What We Believe And Teach
God:
We believe in one true and living God, infinitely perfect and immutable,
existing in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Bible:
We believe that "all Scripture is given by inspiration of God." Thus,
the Bible is the Word of God, verbally inspired and without error in the
original writings. We accept it as the supreme and authoritative
standard for faith and practice.
The Virgin birth of
Jesus Christ: We believe in the virgin birth of
the Lord Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit as recorded in the
Scriptures. This supernatural birth was the fulfillment of Old Testament
prophecy in which God promised to send Israel a Messiah-King and
Redeemer. Being rejected by his own people, he offered himself as a
sacrifice for the sins of all men. Thus he became the divinely provided
sacrificial lamb, whose death was substitutionary — the just dying for
the unjust. By his death he became the Savior of all who believe in him.
The Deity and Humanity
of Jesus: We believe that while on earth,
Jesus Christ retained his absolute deity, being at the same time, God
and man.
The Resurrection of
Jesus: We believe that, according to the
Scriptures, Christ arose from the dead and that His resurrection body is
the pattern of the resurrection body that every believer shall
ultimately receive (Philippians 3:21).
The Holy Spirit:
We believe in the personality and deity of the
Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, who glorifies Jesus
Christ, convicts the sinner, regenerates the believing sinner and
indwells the Christian to guide, instruct and empower for Godly living
and service.
Sin and Satan:
We believe that Satan was the originator of sin who led a
great host of angels in rebellion. He succeeded in leading Adam and Eve,
our first parents, into sin. This resulted in their estrangement from
God and their reception of a sin nature with a natural desire for sin.
We believe that Satan was judged at the cross. Though indicted, he has
not yet been incarcerated, but is temporarily permitted to carry on
guerilla warfare against Christians and against the purposes of God. At
the second coming of Christ, he will be bound and cast into the abyss
for a thousand years. After the thousand years he will be loosed for a
season and then "cast into the lake of fire and brimstone" where he
"shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."
Man:
We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of God, but
that he fell through sin. As a consequence of his sin, he became
spiritually dead, separated from God and totally depraved, as recorded
in Genesis. This totally depraved nature was passed to all men, so that
every child is born with a sin nature, separated and alienated from God.
Salvation:
We believe that salvation of the sinner takes place when
he exercises a personal faith in the substitutionary death of the Lord
Jesus Christ. Believing sinners are thus "justified freely by his grace
through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus" (Romans 3:24).
The Resurrection:
We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men —
the believers to eternal joy with the Lord and the lost to eternal
punishment.
