If You Love Me, Feed My Sheep

By Terry Smith

Kampong Chhnang, Cambodia; The Bible Training Center was filled each day with three hundred students from Buddhist backgrounds. Seven classes in Bible and English were used to reach out with the love of God in Christ Jesus. The ministry continues to grow. God can do more than we ask or think possible. Most students come to know the Lord because of friends that invite them to the school and personal testimony and witness. Open to everyone, enrollment has out spaced room for classes. We taught Bible/English outside as students sat on sawhorses, plastic chairs and a brick wall. Class was cancelled one night because of rain, but insects, chickens, dogs and cats roaming about the classroom are no problem for the Khmer people.

In the Great Commission, Mathew 28:18-19, the risen Christ tells the disciples that they were to "make followers of all people in the world." Put simply, the mission of all Christians is to make followers of everyone who will accept God's offer of salvation.

"Some people may trust in the love of God through receiving food, money, education or friendship. James says we must feed and clothe persons in addition to wishing them well. The mission must also include being a witness to God's great plan of salvation, accomplished through the work of Christ. When we are witnesses for Christ, we talk about the God whom we have met in the Bible and experienced in our own lives. We tell them particularly about the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Many times the story of a sincere layperson is more convincing than the most learned and scholarly sermon any pastor could preach. We are called to be in the mission in every place possible. It does not matter what race, nation, economic status, or previous religion the person has. Everyone is loved by God, and because of that universal love we should be in mission." (Page 794 Everyday Study Bible)

But looking at them, Jesus said "With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible." Mark 10:27

Only 2% of Cambodians graduate from high school. There are nearly 500,000 babies born every year. The average education of Cambodian pastors is 5th grade. Most children have no access to any school over 5th grade.

Because of Civil Wars and the lack of government involvement many children in Cambodia are left to survive the best they can. Because of the severe poverty many children are abandoned by the fathers and mothers. Some children are forced, tricked or lured into prostitution, etc. Some children become violent gangsters, glue boys, robbers, terrorists, etc.

Savet writes . . . "I realized that God has put this vision in me since I was a senior in high school, but it once disappeared. At the Bible School evening session I got this vision again from my lecture because God had revealed to him to inspire me when teaching. It was not only me but others also. We were taught the lesson about "How to know the Calling of God."

Teaching a trade in order that these young people can become productive citizens and support on-going expenses of the ministry is another aspect of the home. In the future the Cambodian desire is for the orphanage to be self-supporting. The ultimate goal of everything done is to see people come to Christ and make disciples as Jesus commanded.

At the time of this writing, God has provided funds to purchase the land and drill a well. We are now accepting funds for building a training center dormitory where a primary school, playground, health center and accommodation for orphans. We invite you to invest in what God is doing.

"You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you."
John 15:15

====  ARGENTINA ALIVE!  ====

By Paul Gilmore

We are witness to the move of God where Light For Living members have ministered during this past year. Cambodia, Philippines, Vietnam, India, Africa, Indonesia, Jordan. The spirit of God is bringing men and women to himself. This generation is seeking God. Some are looking for him in the worship of gods of stone, brass or gold. Many are seeking him through tradition. Many are confused and do not know where to look. We have been called to point all of these to the true and living God.

In Argentina, LFL member Juan, is bringing men and women to the Savior. Juan’s small church is in a neighborhood near Buenos Aries. Juan and his people minister and prayer walk their neighborhood. Claiming their neighbors for Christ. They have activities that minister to children Saturday and Sunday. Many of their people are poor. These folks have been taught to make clothing and shoes, that can be sold in the marketplace.

Juan and this group of believers meet together daily to pray and study God’s word. These believers are learning more about worship, learning how to witness and take leadership at the house of God. Some have been baptized and continue to grow in Christ daily. The youth have had sporting events which attracted young people. Many of the youth who had been witnessed to, want to know more about the Gospel.

With the continued growth of the church ministry more space was needed for their meetings. A larger building was found. They moved in by faith. Working together they cleaned and painted their new house of worship. Now, they are looking for new friends from their neighborhood, that are looking for The Savior.

Juan’s ministry in Argentina needs our prayer and financial support. More resources are needed for more evangelistic outreach. Spanish Bibles are needed for new believers.

Please, send your gifts for Juan’s ministry to Light for Living, P.O. Box 210, Madison, Georgia 30650

Partnership Nationals

The need for sending Cambodian people to minister to their own people is now!

Vanna Hem is one of many men and woman God has called into the harvest.

God is using young adults like Vanna. Now is the time to actively share the love of Jesus to the Cambodian people he died for. Vanna has been working in ministry for about four years. Currently he translates and works with a pastor from the Philippines. He is ready to begin his own ministry as a missionary pastor to his own people. He has been active in every area of church planting and ministry to Muslims.

Terry Smith has personally known Vanna for about five years and believes that the $70 needed for monthly partnership is a good investment. We believe that nationals make the best people to share Christ. We highly recommend Vanna Hem. See Response Form for details about investing in him.

Fifty years of Gospel Light

Light from the Gospel of John was written by Charles Gilmore fifty years ago. The message in this booklet has touched the lives of thousands of people around the world. Charles wrote Light from the Gospel of John, to disciple converts who had only a Gospel of John to read. "In the beginning was the Word, and Word was with God, and Word was God." John 1:1

DIVINE PROTECTION!

…he orders his angels to protect you wherever you go.” Psalm 91:11

In a recent letter we asked you all to pray for our Jamaican sisters who were ministering to the Moslem people in Jordan. We, at that time, did not completely realize how the supernatural hand of God was protecting them.

When they arrived in Amman, Jordan they thought they were to stay at the Days Inn hotel. The person who was to make the hotel reservation, waited too long and so when he remembered to make the Lindo’s reservation, there was no room at Days Inn.

Amman, Jordan was the city where terrorists bombed three hotels. The Days Inn, is the hotel where most Christians stay. The terrorists set off a bomb in the main ballroom where a Moslem wedding was in progress, many people were killed and injured.

At the exact time the Sisters were checking into the other hotel, the bomb exploded at Days Inn. The angel of the Lord was protecting our dear sisters. The God we serve knows the terrorists timetable and all of their plans. “Though a thousand fall at your side…these evils will not touch us.” Psalm 91:7

We appreciate your prayer and financial support for each team as they minister the Good News of the gospel around the world.
