Cambodia is struggling to regain some political and
economic stability after almost total destruction by the Khmer
Rouge in the 1970's. Most of a generation was wiped out in the killing
fields, but a new generation is seeking God. Some have already found
peace and security in Jesus Christ and want to study the Bible. Others
are searching, desiring for someone to show them the way to a new life
in Jesus Christ.
Vision Fulfilled
On May 6, 2002, the leadership of the Light for Living Bible Training
Center was placed in the hands of Cambodians. This staff touches the lives of the people of
Kampong Chhnang through the Bible Training Center which provides a safe
place for people of all ages to read Christian books, watch Bible
videos, and study English. They are taught Christian songs, and games
are an added attraction. The Center is located in Kampong Chhnang, which is about two hours north of Phenom Penh.
Lending Library
In addition to Bible teaching and English classes the center has a
lending library with a supply of books, videos, etc. which the
local people may read and view.

Light for Living Bible
Training Center
Converts are discipled and national workers are being trained to
reach and teach their own people. It is the goal of the Bible Training
Center to help Cambodians to become mature Christians, able to share their
faith with their fellow countrymen. The translation of Bible studies
into Khmer, the national language, is being undertaken. The fact that
these people were born into a non-Christian culture without any
concept of our Triune God, the atoning sacrificial death of Jesus Christ
or salvation by grace alone, requires s special kind of Bible study. Our
goal is not to change the culture, but
to present the Good News that Jesus died as a sacrifice for sin.
We seek to present the Gospel in a Cambodian basket, carried
by Cambodians in whom the character of Jesus and love of God is
manifested.
We believe that it is very important that local churches be
established, led by Cambodian pastors.
Our
ministry interest in the Bible training center is to support, encourage
and teach. We believe the foreign missionaries’ place is in
the background, teaching and training. There is no other Bible training
center in the area. Therefore, we see the Light for Living Bible
Training Center as vital to the establishment of Bible based churches in
the area.

Light for Living Orphanage
Cambodia has seen its share of war and
poverty, and because of these problems the youngest people of the
country suffer. These are the
children of Cambodia. Many
are abandoned by their families, and with no home and guidance they
become victims of a life in prostitution, violent crime, or life on the
street. One of our Light for Living families in Kampong Chhang has the
burden to minister to orphans in their city. Several children are now
being cared for and an orphanage is under construction. This necessary
ministry will have an impact for Christ in the lives of Cambodian
children now, and in the future.
